DIKALOHA SURF SCHOOL
Dikaloha is back, with Dika leading a new generation of local surf coaches at Sumbul Beach.
After years in the water as both a surfer and coach, Dika is bringing his experience into a different kind of surf school. One focused not simply on getting people onto waves, but on teaching them how to become capable, confident and respectful surfers.
He leads a small team of local guides and coaches who share the same approach, while mentoring the next generation of Sumbul surfers who want to turn their love of the ocean into a career.
The goal isn’t just to help you catch a wave. It’s to teach you how to surf.
-
Dikaloha is led by Dika, supported by his brother and a crew of local surfers who know these waves and this coastline as home.
Alongside surf coaching, Dika is training the next generation of local surf coaches. That means passing on more than technique: how to read the ocean, keep people safe, teach well, respect the line-up and become the kind of surfer other people actually want to share waves with.
It’s a surf school, but it’s also an investment in the future of Sumbul’s surf community.

Catching a wave is the easy part. Becoming a surfer is different.
A lot of surf lessons are designed around getting you standing as quickly as possible: paddle, push, stand, photo. You might catch plenty of waves, but you’re still dependent on someone choosing them and pushing you into them.
We want to teach you what happens before the push.
How to read the conditions. How to choose a wave. Where to position yourself. How and when to paddle. How to improve your pop-up. And, most importantly, how a line-up actually works.
Surf etiquette isn’t an optional extra. It’s part of learning to surf. Knowing right of way, where to paddle, when to go and when not to go makes the water safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
A week can transform your understanding of surfing. Give us two and our aim is to give you the foundations to start paddling out, reading waves and catching them independently.
Not just more waves. More ability.
-
Never surfed before?
Perfect. You don’t need to know anything.
We’ll start on land and in forgiving waves, building the fundamentals properly from day one. If you’ve always wanted to learn, spend a week or two with us and we’ll work towards getting you beyond simply standing on a board and towards understanding how to surf independently.
Already surfing?
Then let’s make every session count.
We’ll look at where you’re losing waves and where small changes can make a big difference: wave selection, positioning, paddling, timing, your pop-up, reading conditions and making better decisions in the water.
You might not need someone to teach you how to surf.
You might need someone to help you increase your wave count.
